Through the Keyhole with
Bob Sweeney, Advanced Security And Protection

This month we thought it would be a good idea to speak to the owner of ASAP Locks to find out a bit more about the man behind the pick...

So Bob, how and when did you first get into the industry?

When I left school in 1985 I applied to a number of security companies to become an intruder alarm engineer. There weren't many companies wanting to take on a trainee at the time, but a locksmith
company approached me about becoming an Apprentice Locksmith instead. I looked into what
this would involve and it looked interesting, so accepted and it went from there.

It mentions on your website (www.asap-locks.co.uk) that Advanced Security And Protection is a second time around business, what made you decide to do it all again?

Having sold my original business so that I could explore other avenues in the security industry, I decided that I preferred the hands on approach as a Locksmith as I found it more rewarding. I started ASAP in 2009 and haven't looked back.

What does a Locksmith actually do?

Some people seem to think that a Locksmith just cuts keys and lets you in if you're locked out. A Master Locksmith however will not only do this, but is capable of just about anything security related. Its all about maintaining security.

So what services does ASAP offer?

As I've already said, its more than just a service for cutting keys or letting you in. We offer anything which involves making your premises, either domestic or commercial, more secure. This can be anything from controlling access, door and window lock repairs and replacement to making keys by hand for obsolete locks that can't be replaced. We can provide a service for anything from a modern UPVC door or window to an old church. That's not forgetting the natural diversifications in the industry such as glass and glazing, intruder alarms and CCTV.

Devon is a big county, so what areas are you able to cover?
Roughly speaking, anywhere from Plymouth to Exeter and
all the places in between.  The area is probably as broad as it is long including The South Hams, Torbay and Dartmoor.

Sum up ASAP Locks in three words...
Price, Reliability, Knowledge.

So that's it in a nutshell, ASAP Locks are there to help, whatever your security needs. They offer a service to both commercial and domestic customers, with an emergency 24/7 call out – including over the Christmas and New Year period.
